Pennybox is a mobile app that teaches kids about money, banking and finance, in a fun, practical and social way.
The app only obtains the information you provide when you download the app from app stores and register with us. For security reasons, as a parent, you must register with us in order to use some or all of the features offered by the app, for example, send your child jobs or tasks, receive jobs or tasks from your child, monitor your child’s progress, make payments for jobs and tasks, and to like or comment on videos.
When you register with us, or use the app, you may be required to provide us with:
(a) email address;
(b) mobile phone number;
(d) any information you provide us when you contact us for help;
(e) information you enter when using the app.
We may also use the information you provided us to contact you from time to time, to provide you with important information, required notices, reminders, support on your account (for example, resetting your password or updating your details), or the occasional marketing promotions.
This information is collected to help us personalise your experience. We never collect personally identifiable information from your children, unless they are over the age of 13. This information is never shared with any third parties.
We take your children’s privacy and safety very seriously.
We outline below the measures we take to ensure your children are kept safe at all times while using the app.
For children to access the app functionality, they will be required to create a unique username in the format ‘anyname123’ and a 4-digit passcode, like a bank pin-number.
The app has social elements to help reinforce and reward positive financial behaviours. For children to add friends to their social network and share videos of jobs and tasks, or their financial progress, they can add their friends by username only. Parents can connect to other parents they know via Facebook and children in these connected family groups will be able to see each others’ videos and progress.
What we NEVER do:
(1) We never knowingly collect personally identifying information from children under the age of 13, without your knowledge and consent.
(2) Where we do collect personally identifying information about your children over the age of 13, we never share this with any commercial third party companies or individuals.
(3) We never collect or share precise location information on any user, parents or children.
(4) We never have third party advertisements in our app.
(5) We never use push notifications for marketing or advertising any third parties.
(6) We never knowingly collect data from or market to children under the age of 13.
What we ALWAYS do:
(1) We always ask for approval from parents to collect personally identifying information from children under the age of 13.
(2) We always use a child-locked parental gate to manage sensitive areas of the app, to give parents control of what their children can see and do within the app.
(3) We always respond and quickly action any enquiries concerning breaches of privacy related to children.
If a parent or guardian becomes aware that his or her child (of any age) has provided us with information without their consent, he or she should contact us at email@example.com.
At your request, we will permanently delete and purge any such information from our records as soon as possible.
The app may collect certain bits of non-identifiable, non-personal information, automatically.
This includes information such as, but not limited to, the type of mobile device you use and its operating system, the IP address of your mobile device and general non-precise location data, the type of internet connection you use and the speed of that internet connection, the browsers you use to access our website, and information about the way you use the app.
This information is collected to improve user experience and enhance general security and privacy for all our users. It is never used to identify our users or ever shared with any third parties.
Where automatically collected non-personal information can be linked to an individual user, we immediately treat this information as personally identifiable information.
The app uses push notifications to logged in users. Push notifications will only be used as reminders of actions required within the app, such as completing a task or pending payments for completed jobs.
We never use push notifications for marketing or advertising from third parties.
You may opt-out of all push notifications any time through app settings, or alternatively, using your phone’s settings. However, keep in mind that you may miss important notifications about activities that require your action within the app.
The app does not collect, store or share with any third parties, precise information about your location, or the location of your mobile device.
The app does collect non-precise, non-identifiable location information to improve general user experience, security and safety for all our users.
We never collect, share, or disclose to any third party outside our secure network of systems, information about our users or users’ personal information.
Sometimes, we will need to transmit aggregated and anonymous data about how our apps are being used to external services that help us run the app, or improve the app.
Cookies are a data file placed on a device when it is used to access our website. Cookies work by assigning a random number to the user and has no meaning outside of our website.
Sometimes we are required by law to disclose User Provided Personally Identifying Information and Automatically Collected Non-Identifiable Information. We will only ever disclose this information for the following purposes:
(1) As required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena, court order, or similar legal process;
(2) When we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety, your children’s safety, or the safety of others;
(3) To investigate fraud, or respond to a government or police requests.
You can immediately stop the collection of all information by uninstalling the app using the standard uninstallation process on your mobile device, or by closing the website.
If you are signed up to our website mailing list and wish to opt-out, you can do so anytime by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email sent by us, or by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line: Unsubscribe.
You can also request for us to permanently delete and purge any of your or your children’s information we have, by sending and email to email@example.com.
We will retain User Provided Information for as long as you use the app and for a reasonable time thereafter.
We will retain Automatically Collected Non-Personal Information for up to 48 months and thereafter may store it in aggregate.
If you’d like us to permanently delete and purge any User Provided Information that you have provided to us via the app, please send us an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will respond and take action as quickly as possible.
Please note that some or all of the User Provided Information may be required in order for the app to function properly.
We are always concerned about security and safeguarding the confidentiality of your information. We provide physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect information we process and maintain. For example, we use securely encrypted networks to transmit all information from the app, and we limit access to this information to authorised employees and contractors who need to know that information in order to operate, develop or improve the app.
Please be aware that although we endeavour provide reasonable security for information we process and maintain, no security system can prevent all potential security breaches.
